CapGen Seeds builds new greenhouse to boost research and development

In CapGen Seeds, we have started with the construction of a new greenhouse in the municipality of Roquetas de Mar, near our headquarters in Almeria. The greenhouse, whose surface area will be over 5,000 square meters, is intended to be used by our team for the research and development of new horticultural varieties.

The construction of these new facilities is an important step forward in the company’s strategy, allowing us to continue growing in terms of research, since this will make it possible to open new lines of research allowing us to develop new varieties with greater resistance to diseases and viruses, lines to develop more productive varieties and lines of development where the flavor of the fruit is sought.

In addition to the advantages mentioned above, this project will allow us to continue researching more environmentally sustainable varieties. Until now, several projects have already been carried out for the development of varieties that require less water and fertilizers , and that are more resistant to pests and diseases. But from now on, more research of this type can be carried out at the same time.

Commitment to genetic research with a new greenhouse

The greenhouse is being built by the greenhouse construction company NOVAGRIC, and will be equipped with state-of-the-art crop technology. Construction of the greenhouse is scheduled to be completed by the end of 2023.

“We are excited about the project,” says CapGen Seeds MANAGING DIRECTOR Rafael Cremades. “This new facility will allow us to develop new varieties that meet the needs of growers and consumers faster.”

With this project, employment opportunities will also be created in the area, as it will require the hiring of personnel specialized in agriculture and biotechnology to carry out the crop improvements.
We aim to become a benchmark in horticultural research and contribute to the advancement of sustainable agriculture. With the construction of this greenhouse, we continue to advance towards this goal and once again demonstrate our commitment to innovation and the continuous improvement of horticultural varieties with this investment of our own financing.
